Biodata of Bhikkhuni Kusuma
Venerable Bhikkhuni Kusuma MA, PhD, pioneered the re-establishment of the female Buddhist order and became the first fully ordained Theravada Bhikkhuni in the late 1980’s, 1000 years after the order had died out.
Before her ordination, she was a renowned University Professor. She started her career as a science teacher and got her Masters in Molecular Biology from the USA. She has authored and translated about 10 books on Buddhism and written many articles for famous Buddhist publications such as Wesak Lipi and Wesak Sirisara. Bhikkhuni Kusuma is a member of the Executive Committee of the International Women’s organisation Sakhyadita and a permanent member of the World Sangha Council. She is also a board member of International Elija inter faith organization.
Bhikkhuni Kusuma is in Malaysia on a Dhammadutta tour at the invitation of the Buddhist Maha Vihara, Brickfields as part of the K Sri Dhammananda Lecture Series 2010.

KMBS is organizing a Special Aspiration Puja every Friday in the month of August to invoke the Blessings of the Noble Triple Gem and Protecting Devas to bless and guide our KMBS Building and Development Fund Raising projects.

3) OLD NEWSPAPER RECYCLING DAY ON 22nd AUGUST 2010, SUNDAY
Please be informed that 22nd August, 2010, Sunday, will be the “old newspaper recycling day”. As usual, kindly bring all your old newspapers, old magazines and old books etc. to KMBS centre. All proceeds will go to Sunday Dhamma School fund.

Biodata of Bro. Lim Jee Kong:
Bro. Lim Jee Kong is the Vice President of Buddhist Wisdom Centre, where the objective of the centre is to promote Vipassana Meditation. Bro. Lim has been practising meditation for 25 years under various learned meditation teachers such as Sayadaw U Pandita, Sayadaw Pannathami and Ven. Sujiva, etc.
Meditation classes are held on the 4th Sunday of every month. Please wear loose and comfortable clothing for the meditation class.

6) SUTTA STUDY CLASS ON 3rd SEPTERMBER 2010, FRIDAY
The Sutta Pitaka, the second division of the Tipitaka, consists of more than 10,000 suttas (discourses) delivered by the Buddha and his close disciples during and shortly after the Buddha’s 45 year teaching.
Beginning September, a Sutta Study Class will be conducted by Bro. Law Thim Fook every fortnightly at KMBS centre.

Buddhist Missionary Society Malaysia, Kajang Branch (Kajang Buddhist Centre) will be organizing a free Basic Pali Chanting Workshop in collaboration with Seck Kia Eenh Chantingfarers (SKECF) as follows:

The objectives of this workshop are as follows:

11.1) NATIONAL ANNUAL ALL NIGHT CHANTING & BLESSING SERVICE ON 30th AUGUST, SUNDAY
In conjunction with the celebration of 53rd Malaysia National Day 2010, Malaysian Buddhist Consultative Council will be organising the National Annual All Night Chanting and Blessing Service on 30th August 2010 (Monday) 7:00pm at Buddhist Maha Vihara, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.
The All Night Chanting is to invoke the blessings of the Noble Triple Gem for the good health and longevity of our Sovereign, peace, prosperity and economic stability of Malaysia and for tolerance, patience, understanding and harmony amongst Malaysians. All Buddhists are welcome to join the chanting.
During the event, there will be chanting by Thai, Mahayana, Vajrayana, Burmese and Sinhala Sangha throughout the night until 6:00 am the next morning.
All are welcome! Please bring along your family and friends.
