ABOUT KMBS
Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society (KMBS) is a young and dynamic Buddhist Society situated in Puchong, which brings the Dhamma (teachings of the Buddha) to the community of Puchong, Kinrara and its surrounding areas. Over the last 5 years, the Society has grown steadily due to increasing number of residents looking for a place of Buddhist spiritual education for their young children and teenagers. KMBS has also provided the adults with spiritual solace and a better understanding about LIFE!
The overwhelming response from parents to enroll their children in Sunday Dhamma School and other spiritual activities have reached a point where our current space is grossly inadequate. So, we are in the process of acquiring a new home for KMBS.
ABOUT OUR NEW HOME
It is a 3 ½ storey shop lot located at B2, Vantage Point, Jalan Bangau 11, Bandar Puchong Jaya. It is visible from the Puchong/Bukit Jalil highway, next to the Petronas Station. The size of the building is 22×75 and of freehold status. The surrounding location is quiet and lush with trees and shrubs.
Our initial proposal is to house the Shrine Hall and kitchen on the Ground Floor. The 1st floor will house the Library, Office, Visiting Sangha Room (monk/nun quarters), and Office. The 2nd floor will house the classrooms and the top floor will be the meditation hall cum activity room.
The total cost of the building including renovations and related acquisition cost is estimated at RM1.5 Million. With the recovering economy and increasing prices of property in Puchong, the EXCO sees an urgent need to purchase the building. With the news of LRT extension into Puchong via the Bukit Jalil highway in the pipeline, prices are starting to move rapidly. The price of this building has increased by RM100K from last year. It is also not possible to buy a 3 ½ sty building slightly under RM1Million in Puchong.
WHAT HAVE WE DONE SO FAR
Over the last 5 years we have raised RM0.6 million through many fund raising activities such as Charity Dinner, Golf Tournament, Hymn Singing Concert, Pledging, Charity Art Exhibition and contributions or donations by many of our Dhamma friends. There is still a shortfall of RM0.9 million.
We held our 2nd Art Charity Auction and Exhibition from the 15th May to the 27th June, 2010 at Penang Village, Great Eastern Mall. Other fund raising projects in the pipeline for 2010/2011 include Dama Orchestra, Food n Fun Fair, Walkathon and Charity Dinner.
HOW CAN YOU HELP
As time is the essence and we need to make full settlement with the developer (IOI Properties) within the 5th month upon signing of the S&P, (end July 2010). We are looking for Dhamma friends who can extend interest free loans to KMBS with a repayment period of 3 (three) years to help us secure this building. We appeal to your kind heart to extend your helping hand to this sublime mission.
