1)         PUJA AND ASPIRATION ON 13th AUGUST 2010, FRIDAY

           

KMBS is organizing a Special Aspiration Puja every Friday in the month of August to invoke the Blessings of the Noble Triple Gem and Protecting Devas to bless and guide our KMBS Building and Development Fund Raising projects.

This Friday, the Aspiration Puja will be conducted by Venerable Upananda from United Kingdom. There will be Sutta Recitation, Invocation and Dhamma Sharing.

 

Please bring along your elders, children, family members and friends to join us in this wonderful devotional activity. Those who are facing illness, problems or other life challenges are encouraged to attend and make their positive aspirations. Do bring along offerings of flowers for the Puja. 2)         PATIDANA ON 15 AUGUST 2010, SUNDAY

 

In conjunction with the Hungry Ghosts Festival, KMBS is organising a Patidana on 15 August, 2010. The purpose being to transfer merits to beings born in the unwholesome realms. By transferring merits to them, may their sufferings be lessen. Program for the day will start at 9 am and will include a Buddha puja, a Dhamma talk, offering of midday meal to members of the Sangha and transference of merits. The program is scheduled to end at 1.00 pm.

 

3)      OLD NEWSPAPER RECYCLING DAY ON 22 AUGUST 2010, SUNDAY

           

Please be informed that 22 August, 2010, Sunday, will be the “old newspaper recycling day”. As usual, kindly bring all your old newspapers, old magazines and old books etc. to KMBS centre. All proceeds will go to Sunday Dhamma School fund.

 

4)         KMBS ANNUAL CHANTING COMPETITION ON 3 OCTOBER 2010, SUNDAY

 

KMBS Sunday Dhamma School will be having its annual Chanting Competition on the 3rd October, 2010. The competition is open to all SDS students and Parents. This year there will be a special “Family Category”. For further information, kindly contact Sis Chow at 012-2002289.

 

5)         DAMA ORCHESTRA CONCERT “GLITZ & GLAMOUR” ON 16 OCTOBER 2010, SATURDAY

 

KMBS presents the critically acclaimed Dama Orchestra “Glitz & Glamour” Musical Concert on 16 October 2010 (Saturday) at 8 p.m. It will be a colorful song and dance musical spanning the era from Old Shanghai to the Silver Screen of Shaw Brothers and Cathay. It will be a Broadway-styled song and dance act with cabaret act, and promises to be a night of music, dance and showmanship with all the classic songs that have gone into musical history as Golden Chinese Oldies. For a superb nostalgic evening of docu-tainment, don’t miss “Glitz & Glamour!’

8)         NATIONAL ANNUAL ALL NIGHT CHANTING & BLESSING SERVICE ON 30TH AUGUST, SUNDAY

 

In conjunction with the celebration of 53rd Malaysia National Day 2010, Malaysian Buddhist Consultative Council will be organising the National Annual All Night Chanting and Blessing Service on 30th August 2010 (Monday) 7:00pm at Buddhist Maha Vihara, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.

 

The All Night Chanting is to invoke the blessings of the Noble Triple Gem for the good health and longevity of our Sovereign, peace, prosperity and economic stability of Malaysia and for tolerance, patience, understanding and harmony amongst Malaysians. All Buddhists are welcome to join the chanting.

 

During the event, there will be chanting by Thai, Mahayana, Vajrayana, Burmese and Sinhala Sangha throughout the night until 6:00am next morning.

Biodata of Bro. Chua Teck Seong:

 

Bro. Chua Teck Seong graduated from TARC with BSc in Applied Science and went to UK for Masters in Biotechnology in 1993.  He started learning Buddhism since secondary school and became a novice monk at Santisukharama, Kota Tinggi while studying Vipassana meditation with Ven Sujiva. He was actively involved in campus Buddhism in 1989-1992, being chairman of TAR College Buddhist Society. While he was in UK, Bro Chua was also exposed to the Buddhist activities there such as London Buddhist Society, Amaravati (Ajahn Sumedho) and Tibetan traditions. In addition, he was the Vice President of YBAM, Exco member for Majlis Belia Malaysia (MBM). Currently, Bro Chua is the President of Putra Heights Buddhist Society.

He has served as a student counselor and conducted safe-parenting programs in Sri Lanka. He is currently doing his masters in Counseling Psychology in Malaysia.

Lim has been practising meditation for 25 years under various learned meditation teachers such as Sayadaw U Pandita, Sayadaw Pannathami and Ven. Sujiva, etc.

Meditation classes are held on the 4th Sunday of every month. Please wear loose and comfortable clothing for the meditation class.

Biodata of Ven. Wimalagnana Thero

Venerable Miriswaththe Wimalagnana is from East Sri Lanka. Bhante has passed the Royal Pundit Degree from Society of Oriental Languages and graduated with the 1st class Honors in Buddhist Studies from the University of Peradeniya. Bhante has also worked as a Lecturer in the University of Peradeniya immediately after he received his graduation. Currently Bhante is a Lecturer in the Buddhasravaka Bhiksu University, Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka and is also a representative of Association of Theravada Buddhist Universities (ATBU) and is a Pali scholar (a translator of Pali commentaries into English for the Buddhist cultural centre Sri Lanka). Bhante is in Malaysia for a Dhammadutta tour at the invitation of the Buddhist Maha Vihara, Brickfields.

3)      THE FIRST NATIONAL BCA FAMILY SPORTS DAY ON 18 JULY 2010, SUNDAY

After the recent launch of the Buddhist Community Alliance, BCA is continuing its aim in fostering good relationship and networking among the members. The First National BCA Family Sports Day is organized to provide a platform for the members to foster good relationship among the centre members, enjoy a family outing with like-minded families and to have loads of fun.

Time : 7.00a.m. - 3:00p.m.

Venue : St. Paul’s Secondary School, Seremban
